A Broad Background With a Clear Direction

My career has not followed a perfectly straight line, but it has always followed a clear theme. I have spent much of my working life helping people understand complex systems, solve practical problems, communicate difficult ideas, and make better decisions.

That experience has taken me through business, technology, legal study, writing, training, systems design and professional services. At first glance, that may look broad, but the common thread is simple: I am interested in how people, organisations and systems work, and how good judgment can be applied to improve outcomes.

I completed a Bachelor of Laws with Distinction in 2024 and have continued building my legal capability through practical experience, legal research, governance work, regulatory exposure, litigation-related work and legal-adjacent roles. I am particularly interested in areas of law where the legal issues are deeply connected to people, evidence, documents, decisions and real-world consequences.

That is why family law, property law and commercial law all appeal to me in different but connected ways.

Why I Am Interested in Family Law

Family law interests me because it involves people at some of the most difficult and vulnerable moments in their lives. It requires legal knowledge, but it also requires empathy, careful communication, emotional intelligence and the ability to remain calm when the situation is stressful.

My background in child protection, domestic and family violence-related environments, community service work and client-focused problem-solving gives me a strong appreciation of the human impact of legal decisions.

In family law, the work is not just about files, documents and court processes. It is about helping people navigate uncertainty, conflict, safety concerns, parenting issues, property division and major life transitions with dignity and care.

The areas that particularly interest me include:

  • parenting matters and the impact of conflict on children;
  • property settlements and financial separation;
  • domestic and family violence issues;
  • client communication during emotional and stressful periods;
  • helping clients understand their options clearly and calmly.

I believe I would bring maturity, empathy and steadiness to this area of practice. I understand that clients in family law often need more than information. They need someone who can listen carefully, communicate clearly and help them feel that their matter is being handled with care and attention.

Why I Am Interested in Property Law

Property law interests me because it is practical, document-driven and outcome-focused. It requires attention to detail, strong process management, risk awareness and the ability to keep clients informed at each stage of a transaction.

I enjoy work where there is a clear structure, a sequence of tasks and a need to manage deadlines, documents, stakeholders and client expectations. Property law suits my strengths because it rewards organisation, precision and the ability to follow a process carefully while still watching for risk.

The areas that interest me include:

  • conveyancing and property transactions;
  • contract review and key date management;
  • client updates and communication;
  • document preparation and file management;
  • identifying issues before they become problems.

My background in business, systems and technology means I naturally look for ways to improve workflows, reduce errors, organise information and make processes clearer for both clients and practitioners. I would bring a careful, methodical and client-focused approach to property and conveyancing work.

Why I Am Interested in Commercial Law

Commercial law interests me because it connects strongly with my business background. I have owned and operated businesses, worked across systems and operations, and understand the practical pressures that business owners face.

Commercial clients often need more than abstract legal advice. They need advice that makes sense in the real world, where money, risk, contracts, relationships, compliance and time all matter. My experience in business gives me an appreciation of those commercial realities.

The areas that interest me include:

  • contracts and commercial agreements;
  • business structures and governance;
  • commercial disputes;
  • regulatory obligations;
  • legal risk management;
  • tax law;
  • technology, AI and business process improvement.

My legal training allows me to approach problems with structure, research, analysis and risk awareness. My business experience allows me to understand the client’s commercial pressures. That combination means I can support commercial legal work with both legal discipline and practical business judgment.

The Value I Can Offer a Legal Employer

One of the main values I can offer a legal employer is the ability to think across disciplines. I am not only legally trained; I also understand business operations, technology, communication, systems and client experience.

That means I can assist with legal work while also seeing how the broader workflow operates. I can help organise information, improve processes, prepare documents, support research, communicate clearly with clients, and identify practical ways to reduce friction in legal service delivery.

The value I can bring includes:

  • strong legal research and analytical ability;
  • maturity and life experience;
  • clear written and verbal communication;
  • business and commercial awareness;
  • technology and AI literacy;
  • strong client empathy;
  • process improvement mindset;
  • ability to work across legal, operational and technical issues;
  • calmness under pressure;
  • willingness to learn and contribute.

I also bring initiative. I am someone who looks for ways to be useful. If a process is unclear, I want to understand it. If a document needs to be improved, I want to help refine it. If a client is confused, I want to help make the information clearer. If a team is under pressure, I want to contribute in a practical and reliable way.

Maturity, Communication and Client Care

I bring maturity and life experience to my work. I have worked with people under pressure, dealt with complex personal and professional situations, owned businesses, managed projects, written extensively, and learned how to adapt when circumstances change.

I understand that legal work requires discipline, confidentiality, judgment, persistence and attention to detail. I also understand that clients often come to lawyers when they are stressed, uncertain or overwhelmed.

My goal is to be someone who helps create calm, clarity and confidence. I want clients to feel that their matter is being handled carefully. I want colleagues to feel that I am reliable, prepared and willing to help. I want the firm I work for to see me as someone who adds value beyond the minimum requirements of the role.

Technology, AI and the Future of Legal Work

My interest in artificial intelligence and legal technology is another part of the value I can offer. I do not see AI as a replacement for lawyers or legal judgment. I see it as a tool that, when used carefully, can support research, document review, knowledge management, process improvement and client service.

I am especially interested in how legal teams can use technology responsibly while maintaining ethics, accuracy, professional oversight and trust.

This means I can contribute not only to day-to-day legal work, but also to future-facing improvements in how legal services are delivered. I can help a firm think about how technology may improve workflows, reduce duplication, support better document management and create more consistent client service.

The Type of Opportunity I Am Seeking

What I am looking for now is the right opportunity to build a serious and stable legal career. I am particularly drawn to family law, property law and commercial law because each area allows me to combine legal thinking with practical problem-solving.

Family law connects with my interest in people, safety, communication and difficult human situations. Property law connects with my strengths in process, detail, structure and client communication. Commercial law connects with my business experience and interest in helping organisations manage risk and make better decisions.

I am open to roles where I can contribute, learn and grow, including:

  • law graduate roles;
  • paralegal roles;
  • legal assistant roles;
  • conveyancing or property support roles;
  • family law support roles;
  • commercial law support roles;
  • legal operations roles;
  • legal technology or AI governance roles.

My Professional Direction

My background is broad, but my direction is clear. I want to contribute to a legal team where I can be useful, reliable, thoughtful and practical.

I want to keep developing as a legal professional while bringing the full value of my experience in business, technology, communication and systems. I believe I can offer a firm more than just technical legal support.

I can offer maturity, initiative, clear thinking, adaptability, empathy and a genuine commitment to helping clients and legal teams achieve better outcomes.
